pokey2midi is a script to convert Atari POKEY audio chip instructions into faithful and clean MIDI music files, with proper notes, tempo and bar alignments.
This program required a lot of studying of an old Atari computer and its audio chip datasheets, and many hours of experimentation.
The MIDI files are being used in digital orchestrations of some of my favorite Atari computer music. The script also helped the musicians of Project Sidologie in recreating a famous chiptune track from the game Jet Set Willy.
